About me

I qualified from Leeds Metropolitan University in 2004 and  worked in the NHS Speech and Language Therapy service for over 18 years.  I started my independent practice in February 2022.  I have worked with many of the early years settings and schools in North Devon within both roles.

I am experienced in working with children and young people aged 0 - 16 years of age.  I can provide assessments, evidence-based therapy and programmes of work for both families and schools to work through.

I have carried on with my professional learning and attended further courses working with children with the following types of speech, language and communication needs

  • Speech sound delays, disorders and verbal dyspraxia
  • Stammering (both pre school with the Lidcombe programme, and school aged with the Swindon Fluency training)
  • Selective mutism (for both environmental advice and specific programmes of intervention
  • Developmental Language Disorder (for both difficulties with understanding and use of spoken language, including vocabulary difficulties)
  • Parent-Child Interaction strategies to enable parents and early years setting to best support children's language development (including the Hanen Approach).
  • I am Makaton trained to stage 4.
  • Training for Staff in private early years settings, childminders, nurseries and school staff.

I am registered with the following organisations;

  • Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists
  • The Health and Care Professionals Council
  • The Association of Speech and Language Therapists in Independent Practice
  • I also hold an enhanced DBS check
